You're dealing with something hard. Maybe it's a divorce. Maybe it's a custody fight, or a restraining order you need filed by tomorrow morning. Getting Started
Yes. CourtLoom generates official Judicial Council forms — the same FL-100, FL-110, FL-105, FL-150, and other forms used by every California family court. Our forms are formatted to each county’s local requirements, including cover sheets and filing checklists. We don’t create generic templates; we produce the actual court filings.
You review and approve every form before it’s finalized. CourtLoom shows you exactly what will be filed and lets you edit any field. If you catch something after downloading, just go back into your case, make the change, and re-download. Nothing gets filed until you take it to the courthouse yourself.
No. CourtLoom prepares the Petitioner’s filing packet. The other party (Respondent) receives service of the papers through normal legal process — you serve them the same way you would with any attorney-prepared filing. If they need to file a Response, they can use CourtLoom separately, but it’s not required.
CourtLoom supports all 58 California counties. Each county has different local rules for cover sheets, filing fees, and document formatting. CourtLoom automatically applies your county’s specific requirements so you don’t have to research them yourself.
What CourtLoom Covers
CourtLoom currently focuses on dissolution (divorce) and legal separation filings. Standalone custody cases (parentage / paternity actions) are on our roadmap. If you’re filing for divorce and have custody issues, CourtLoom handles the custody-related forms (like the FL-105 UCCJEA Declaration) as part of your dissolution packet.
Yes — and it’s free. Our guideline child support calculator implements the formula from Family Code §4055, including timeshare percentages, add-on expenses for childcare, healthcare, and education, hardship deductions, and net-spendable income analysis. It gives you an instant estimate with a full breakdown you can take to court. No sign-up required.
CourtLoom prepares the forms where you disclose assets, debts, income, and expenses (like the FL-150 Income and Expense Declaration). It does not provide legal advice on how to divide property or calculate spousal support — those are legal strategy questions that depend on your specific facts. If your case involves significant assets or complex support issues, we recommend consulting with an attorney, and CourtLoom can help you find one.
Language & Accessibility
Yes. CourtLoom’s questionnaire and AI navigator are available in both English and Spanish. The final court forms are produced in English (as required by California courts), but all instructions, guidance, and plain-language explanations are available in Spanish throughout the process.
CourtLoom is designed for people who have never filled out a legal form before. You answer simple questions in plain English (or Spanish), and CourtLoom does the rest. There’s no legal jargon to decode, no form numbers to look up, and no confusing instructions. If you can fill out an online form, you can use CourtLoom.
Legal Boundaries
No. CourtLoom is a document preparation platform — not a law firm, not an attorney, and not a legal document assistant (LDA). We help you fill out forms based on the information you provide. We don’t tell you what to put on those forms, how to handle disputes, or what legal strategy to pursue. For complex matters, we recommend consulting with a licensed California family law attorney.
CourtLoom includes an attorney referral feature. If your case involves contested custody, domestic violence, significant assets, hidden income, or any issue where you need legal strategy — not just form preparation — we’ll help you connect with a licensed California family law attorney. Many people start with CourtLoom and bring in an attorney only for the parts that require one.
Pricing & Account
CourtLoom is free. The free plan includes the AI Navigator, the child support calculator, 1–2 filing packets, full bilingual support, and the attorney referral feature. You can explore the entire questionnaire and see how CourtLoom works without paying anything or entering a credit card.
Pro ($29/month or $22/month billed annually) unlocks unlimited drafts, full document packets ready for filing, the Declaration Assistant for written declarations, priority support, and deadline tracking so you never miss a court date. You can start with a 14-day free trial.
Yes. No contracts, no cancellation fees. You can downgrade to the free plan or cancel entirely at any time from your account settings. Your data is retained for 90 days after cancellation in case you need to come back.
